Announcing Season 2 of Work @ Life: Combating The First Female Recession

May 19, 2021 Maddie Grant

We are super excited to announce Season 2 of our popular livestream Work @ Life – hosted by me, Maddie Grant, culture designer at PROPEL, and Sanja Licina, Ph.D., President, Workforce at QuestionPro.

In Season 1, every week on Tuesdays at 12 CT/1 pm ET we dug into one particular data point related to the grey area between work and life. Now for Season 2, we have a few changes to announce – we are turning this livestream into a podcast!  We will still record video but this means that we can post episodes that can more easily be listened to whenever you like, on your own schedule.  We’ll post every other week this time, which will give us a bit more time to collect our survey response data, and episodes will still come out Tuesday afternoons.

Also, we discovered when recording Season 1 that every topic leads to other related topics that we’d love to dig into – so for Season 2, we have decided to organize our thoughts under one big theme – Combating the First Female Recession.

Over the last year and a half most people across the globe have suffered significant consequences from the global pandemic, and working women have been hit particularly hard. Following many years of women still struggling to achieve equality in the workplace, this set us back significantly. Now more than ever it’s critical to answer, what can leaders and companies do to combat what has been dubbed the First Female Recession?

This is certainly a large challenge, and through our conversations Sanja and I will talk about some very actionable steps organizations can take to help get through this challenging time, together. For example, how can leaders and companies lay out clear expectations and listen to their employees with empathy? How do you ensure employee well-being during high work demand? Is your company open to the new frontiers of labor, such as flexible hours, the gig economy and remote work? These are just a few ideas that we will cover during the season.
